Research Group Antibiotics

lead by Dr. Gerrit Jürjens

Antibiotics research

Gram-negative pathogens are a rising threat to human healthcare due to increasing resistence problems. Because of their specific defense mechanisms and cell wall structure the development of novel antibiotics is often difficult.

Therefore, the group focusses on the synthesis and modification of novel drugs based on natural products displaying an antibacterial activity and their development towards clinical candidates.
