Cooperations of the Institute of Organic Chemistry

Many working groups of the Institute of Organic Chemistry are members of the Biomolecular Drug Center (BMWZ). In this research center at Leibniz University Hannover, the focus is on the development of new active substances, complemented by projects in the field of synthetic biology.

Prof. Dr. Andreas Kirschning is a member of the Laboratory for Nano- and Quantum Engineering (LNQE) and cooperates in this research center at Leibniz University Hannover with Prof. Dr. Behrens from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry.

There are close ties with the Helmholtz Centre for Environment and Health (HMGU) in Munich, as Prof. Dr. Oliver Plettenburg holds a professorship at Leibniz University Hannover and is also director at the Helmholtz Centre for Environment and Health.

The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig has long had historical ties with Leibniz University Hannover. Prof. Dr. Mark Brönstrup is director at the HZI and professor at Leibniz Universität Hannover, and Prof. Dr. Markus Kalesse also has a medicinal chemistry group at the HZI.

The Hannover Medical School is located in the immediate vicinity in Hannover. Due to the focus of the Institute of Organic Chemistry on drug discovery, there are many collaborations with institutes at this university.
