Timo Fleßner, PhD
Timo Fleßner, Ph. D. is Vice President and Head of Chemical Development at Bayer Pharma, Wuppertal, since June 2011. In this function he is responsible for the development of chemical and technological processes to ensure drug substance / API supply for preclinical and clinical studies, submission and launch. From 2000 until 2011 Timo Fleßner held various positions of increasing responsibility in Bayer Pharma´s Global Drug Discovery unit (Head of chemistry labs, various support and operation functions for the management of Bayer’s Pharma R&D, Director and Head of a Medicinal Chemistry Department).
Timo Fleßner was educated at the Universities of Oldenburg, Hannover and Paris-Sud (Diploma in Chemistry). He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry with Prof. E. Winterfeldt in 1999 from the University of Hannover. From 1999 till 2000 he worked as a Postdoc in the group of Prof. C.-H. Wong at the Scripps Research Institute in San Diego.
In the election period 2016-2019 Timo Fleßner is a board member of the German Chemical Society (GDCh: „Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker”). In this position he is the nominated chairman of the GDCh education & training panel („Fortbildungskommission”).
